Face Match module

Nov. 30, 2009

In an advance for rapidly identifying potential suspects in criminal investigations, i2's Face Match module is now part of its COPLINK analysis software suite. COPLINK provides a central data warehouse which collates information from many individual police stations, typically including images of suspects and convicted criminals. In undertaking a facial recognition search, a "probe" image of the individual to be identified is presented to the Face Match module, which then searches the COPLINK database to find similar faces. i2’s Facial Recognition software works by using highly advanced mathematical algorithms to create a unique mathematical signature of the face – and then stores this signature within the COPLINK database. Any new image is then similarly encoded and a comparison made to find the closest matches.
