ROBBINSVILLE, N.C. --
A fire gutted part of the Graham County Sheriff's Department early Monday morning, officials said.
According to Graham County Director of Emergency Services Larry Hembree, the blaze started at about 2:30 a.m..
Zelerie Rose, of The Graham Star, said that the fire started in the investigative room, which is a building that is attached to the side of the main sheriff's office. She said that investigators believe a brick wall that separates the main office from the investigative room kept the fire from spreading to the main office.
Agents from the State Bureau of Investigation were at the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Hembree said that the sheriff's office is in the process of relocating, but it will be another day or two before the department is operational.
No one was injured in the fire.
