Building on a background in urban emergency care, students will learn how to improvise equipment, deal with challenging envioronmental conditions, and make difficult medical decisions in remote locations. Available from Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS, the Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals is a 54-hour course. This intense, hands-on curriculum uses daily role plays, case studies and practical scenarios. Expect to spend plenty of time applying knowledge.
