Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP), one of the most respected names in public safety products around the world, announced today that all 350 officers with the Basel-Landschaft Police Department in Switzerland are carrying the ASP Talon Baton and Envoy Scabbard.

Basel-Landschaft Police Sergeant MBA Markus Beer, Chief of Tactical Training, transitioned Officers from ASP’s Lever Loc batons, which they had been carrying since 2009, to the 50 cm Talons following an extensive Testing and Evaluation process that began in January 2013.

Beer said his agency’s Officers were impressed by several of the Talon’s innovative features, particularly the ease and speed in which the batons can be expanded and retracted.

“The Talon is the long-sought solution to the challenge of closing an expandable baton without impact,” Beer said. “We’re proud to be the first large European department to be carrying the Talon and the Envoy Scabbards.”

The Envoy is ASP’s newest scabbard designed specifically for the Talon baton.

The sophisticated yet simple design of the Talon’s revolutionary Disc Loc technology uses two opposing internal discs that secure each of the baton’s shafts in place ensuring that lockout is stable and secure.

ASP designs and manufactures both a Steel and Airweight model of the Talon, which comes in lengths of 40 cm, 50 cm and 60 cm.

The Talons also have a lifetime warranty.

You can check out the Talon Batons and the Envoy Scabbard at the 2014 SHOT Show from January 14-17 in Las Vegas, NV.

ASP’s booth number at the Sands Convention Center is 11971.
