Davenport, IA, Sept. 17, 2007-- The School of Criminal Justice at Kaplan University today announced the launch of its online Crime Scene Technician Certificate program, which is designed for law enforcement professionals or those wishing to begin a career in crime scene investigation.
"Crime Scene Investigation is a growing discipline and is in great demand among law enforcement professionals," said Frank DiMarino, Dean of the School of Criminal Justice. "The Kaplan University Crime Scene Technician Certificate is designed for law enforcement professionals seeking to supplement their existing degrees and develop a specialization, which may make them more competitive in the work force."
The curriculum is designed to provide students with an understanding of the analytical procedures, documentation, collection and preservation procedures of crime scene investigation. Students will be taught how to search for specific types of evidence, handle and process physical evidence and identify the boundaries of the crime scene, among other skills. The program is 44 quarter credits.
Enrollment begins immediately, and classes will start on Oct. 10.
