A Marion County, Ore. Sheriff's deputy wounded in a shootout on Friday was released from the hospital on Sunday.

Deputy Jim Buchholz was searching for the suspect following a pursuit when he was fired on.

Buchholz was wounded and began treating his own wound and immediately called for help after taking cover.

The nine-year veteran was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released two days later to continue his recovery at home.

"We are wishing Jim a speedy and healthy recovery and would like to thank our community for their overwhelming support of Deputy Buchholz throughout this difficult situation," Sheriff Jason Myers said in a statement.

The incident is currently under investigation.
