Here are some of the stories you may have missed that ran on our site during the week.

Because of this, the Officer.com staff presents the "Quickfire Weekly Recap." Here are some of the stories you may have missed that ran on our site this week:

Weekend (Aug. 9-11)

A DeKalb County, Ga. police officer in pursuit of a suspect early Saturday morning was killed in a single-car crash.

Officer Ivorie Klusmann's cruiser left the road while he was pursuing a suspect who previously fled from him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who fatally shot his Wauwatosa, Wis. police officer wife was sentenced to life in prison on Friday.

Benjamin G. Sebena pleaded in June to first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Officer Jennifer Sebena, who he stalked and killed last Christmas Eve.

A missing California teen was found safe and her abductor was killed by authorities in the Idaho wilderness on Saturday.

James Lee DiMaggio was killed by an FBI hostage recovery team after officers participating in a massive manhunt spotted a campsite from the air.

A Mexican court on Friday released a drug lord convicted in the 1985 kidnapping and killing of a DEA agent.

Rafael Caro Quintero had spent 28 years in prison for the death of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena.

Monday (Aug. 12)

A U.S. District Court judge ruled that the NYPD deliberately violated the civil rights of citizens through the use of "Stop-and-Frisk."

Judge Shira Scheindlin said an independent monitor is needed to oversee changes and clarified that she was not putting an end to the policy, but rather was reforming it.

Meanwhile, New York City's mayor said the decision could signal a return to the days of high violent crime rates and its run as "America's safest big city."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would appeal but likely won't be around long enough to deal with the repercussions.

Attorney General Eric Holder announced a major shift in federal drug-related sentencing policies.

Holder is targeting long mandatory terms he says have flooded the nation's prisons with low-level drug offenders, using funds that could be better spent to battle crime.

A once-feared Boston mob boss was convicted in a string of 11 killings and other gangland crimes.

James "Whitey" Bulger, who committed many of them while he was said to be an FBI informant, is facing life in prison.

A Spokane County, Wash. sheriff's deputy who saved an abandoned puppy also gained himself a pet.

Deputy Marc Melville found the dog after responded to a call of a man who appeared to be leaving puppies in the roadway.

Tuesday (Aug. 13)

A Philadelphia police officer was shot and critically wounded by a suspect, who was taken into custody.

Police say Officer Edward Davies was hit once in the abdomen under his ballistic vest during a struggle with Eric Torres inside corner store in the Feltonville neighborhood.

A man shot two hostages at a Louisiana bank before state police shot and killed him.

One of the hostages died at the scene, while the other died on Thursday following the hours-long standoff at the at Tensas State Bank branch in St. Joseph.

Surveillance cameras at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade captured the moment chaos broke out inside the jail on June 14.

The video, obtained by The Miami Herald, shows all of the doors of a wing to open at once. The footage has raised suspicions that the inmates knew the doors would be opening and the incident is under investigation.

Detroit police officials confirmed that a commander mistakenly released the bra cup sizes of some female officers while sending out information regarding bullet-proof vests.

The list -- sent back a few weeks ago -- contained female officers' height, weight and cup sizes.

Wednesday (Aug. 14)

A Nassau County police officer was shot and two suspects were arrested following a manhunt.

Officer Mohit Arora was struck in the right hip shortly before 2 a.m. after responding to a burglary call at a home.

Multiple Georgia law enforcement agencies pursued a suspected child abductor who had a 8-month-old in her back seat and the entire chase was captured on dashcam video.

The pursuit of Samantha Barrett was triggered by an amber alert and the child was safely returned to his mother.

The United States government formally requested the re-arrest of a drug lord unexpectedly freed in the 1985 kidnapping, torture and murder of DEA agent.

Rafael Caro Quintero was released Friday after being jailed for 28 year in the death of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena.

A DNA database of British felines helped convict a man of manslaughter.

The case shows how the genetic material of pets can be used by crime scene investigators.

Thursday (Aug. 15)

Two Trenton, N.J. police detectives were shot while following up on a domestic violence call and the suspected gunman was fatally shot.

Detective Jim Letts and Edgar Rios were sent to the house on Hobart Avenue where Eric McNeil opened fire on them before being gunned down by police.

Philadelphia Police Officer Edward Davies, who was wounded in a shooting on Tuesday, was awake and responsive following emergency surgery.

Doctors removed Davies' kidney so they could treat a bleeding artery that was hit by a bullet during the shooting.

The NYPD won't implement a judge's order to outfit officers with body cameras, according to a New York Post report.

Both the police department and the union oppose the ruling and union lawyers are researching whether the camera requirement is legal.

Jury selection will begin on Sept. 9 in the capital murder trial of Joshua Russell, who authorities say killed Officer Justin Sollohub during a foot pursuit.

A source close to the investigation said the search was focused on the office's real-estate unit.

Friday (Aug. 16)

A video created by the Hillsboro, Ore. Police Department to help recruit a new chief has gone viral.

The video, which has been featured by national news outlets and has received well over 50,000 views on YouTube, uses humor in its recruitment pitch.

Seattle police plan to hand out bags of Doritos at Hempfest on Saturday.

Officers will distribute the one-ounce bags of nacho-cheese chips with educational information affixed to them about the state's new legal pot law as part of "Operation Orange Fingers."

A Harris County, Texas sheriff's deputy is suing the family of a man he fatally shot while assisting on a call last December

Deputy Brady Pullen claims the relative of Kemal Yazar failed to warn emergency personnel and law enforcement that the man was a "violent threat" and is seeking $200,000.
