OGDEN, Utah -- A 31-year-old man is facing several felonies after leading police on a short car chase Tuesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Cole Mortensen drove away from a traffic stop around 8:30 p.m. at 26th Street and Adams Avenue, briefly dragging an officer with him. He then fled on foot between 26th and 27th streets before police arrested him and booked him into Weber County Jail.

Officers later found a pistol believed to belong to Mortensen, who is restricted from owning firearms because of a prior felony, the affidavit states.

Officers also found methamphetamine and heroin, both packaged and in distribution quantities.

Mortensen was charged with possession or use of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony; possession of a firearm by a restricted person, aggravated assault, and failure to stop at the command of police, all third-degree felonies; driving on a suspended license, a class B misdemeanor; and failure to stop at a stop sign, a class C misdemeanor.

He was due to appear Thursday in 2nd District Court in Ogden.
