A veteran Baltimore police supervisor has been indicted on two criminal counts in connection with the shooting of a recruit during a training exercise.
William Scott Kern, 46, faces counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, The Baltimore Sun reported.
The indictment comes six weeks after Raymond Gray was shot in the head when Kern grabbed his service weapon instead of one that shoots paint pellets, reports indicated.
Gray, a University of Maryland officer, was in traning at the shuttered Rosewood Center in Owings Mills.
He was shot, officials said, when he peered through a window at the Kern, who had worked at the city police academy for more than a decade.
Gray, who still has a feeding tube, was released recently from R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. His family said he still has surgeries to undergo.
Kern surrendered to Maryland State Police.
