March 12--A band of robbers posing as Sierra Vista policemen broke into a home early Sunday morning armed with knives and a machete.
The four masked men unscrewed the bulb on the front porch light of a home on the northwest side of Sierra Vista between 3 and 4:30 a.m..
The men then pounded on the front door and announced themselves as police officers.
When the residents opened the door, the four men rushed inside and demanded cash, said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
The robbers made the couple empty purses, wallets and pants pockets in search of money, Capas said.
The robbers fled in a white sedan.
"Our biggest concern at this point is ... it may in fact happen again," Capas said. "We want to make sure people are aware, if you get a knock on the door late at night, call 911 or a law enforcement agency."
