Nov. 22--A Florida school calls police over a pressing issue on the playground, two 12-year-olds kissing. Yes K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
Supposedly, two Lee County elementary school girls were fighting over a boy, when one of the girls claimed her territory and planted a big fat one on the boy.
A teacher on duty noticed the kiss and reported it to the assistant principal Margaret Ann Haring.
She said it was a 'possible sex crime' and called social workers at the Florida Department of Children and Families.
They told her to report the matter to the Lee County Sheriff's office, which then sent deputies to the school.
The 12-year-olds were then investigated for a sex crime. Thankfully, the responding officers had some sense and no charges were filed. Sgt. Stephanie Eller told a local news station, "They called us and said they caught two children kissing on the playground. The reality is it was probably something innocent between two kids on the playground."
If the young girl had been charged, it would have been with battery.
So should passing "cooties" be considered a sex crime?
