Nov. 15--The teenage uncle of a 6-year-old boy shot in the chest during a cops-and-robbers game at a family home last weekend has been cited in the shooting, authorities said.

The 13-year-old was cited as a juvenile this afternoon with reckless discharge of a firearm in the shooting of Marshown Means, 6, at Marshown's grandfather's home in the 1700 block of West Steuben Street about 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, according to police.

Previous reports had indicated the uncle was 14.

Marshown's family said Sunday that he was expected to survive the shooting, which took place when the teen uncle was able to get the gun out of a locked safe and fire at the younger boy with the .38-caliber revolver in what family said was a cops-and-robbers game.

Another relative who lives in the home where the shooting occurred was in custody following the shooting, police said. The Tribune is not naming him because he has not been charged with a crime. But he has been convicted twice on weapons-related charges, according to court records.

On Sunday, Marshown's mother said that relative wasn't to blame for the shooting Sunday because the gun was locked up and her son has spent many weekends at the home safely.
