Nov. 12--The phrase "one more for the road" became "a truck-load for the road" when a semi-truck carrying suds tipped over on the interstate Friday.

One person suffered minor injuries in the two-vehicle wreck that left a truck carrying bottled beer overturned on Interstate 79.

According to a release from the West Virginia State Police: About 2:15 p.m., troopers responded to the wreck at the 152 mile marker, at the Westover exit, on I-79.

A 1997 Subaru Impreza driven by Aaron Almase collided with the tractor trailer as it entered the interstate from the on-ramp. The trailer, driven by Amanda Curnutt, overturned on the U.S. 19 overpass and blocked one lane of southbound traffic.

A Kia driving along U.S. 19 had its windshield broken by falling debris from the wreck, according to police radio traffic.

Investigators found that Almase failed to yield the right-of-way while entering the interstate and caused the wreck.

Curnutt was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

One lane of the interstate was closed as crews handled the wreck. The crash caused traffic backups on the Interstate and U.S. Route 19.

In addition to the State Police, the Westover Police and the Granville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

But the tractor-trailer wreck wasn't the only one in town in the 2 p.m hour.

A three-vehicle wreck on the Star City bridge sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Star City Police Chief Vic Propst said the wreck was a three-vehicle, rearend collision. There were a total of eight people in the three vehicles.

The driver who caused the wreck, Jordan Glass, of Bridgeport, was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital with a foot injury, Propst said. Tyler Hoy, 4, was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, he said.

Emergency responders had to shut down the bridge for about 25 minutes to tend to the scene, Propst said.
