Nov. 01--A 24-year-old Forks Township woman was charged this weekend with drunken driving after she rear-ended an Easton police cruiser, police said.
Alexsandra N. Gontaryuk, of 2289 Timothy Trail, Easton, crashed around 2:10 a.m. Sunday on Northampton Street near Sitgreaves Street, police said.
Easton police said Gontaryuk was driving a Mercedes Benz west on Northampton Street behind the police cruiser when she drifted across the double yellow line and failed to slow down and struck the rear bumper of the police cruiser with the front passenger side of her car.
The officer also said Gontaryuk's front windshield was fogged up and she was driving without headlights.
Gontaryuk admitted she had been drinking and said the reason she crashed was because her windshield wipers were not working, police said. Police noticed she had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and poor balance and a preliminary breath test showed she had been drinking.
She will be mailed a summons, charging her with drunk driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving at unsafe speeds, not having her lights on and having her windshield obstructed.
