RENTON, Washington

A Renton police sergeant is out of a job following KIRO 7 investigation into a series of online cartoon videos that mocked the department.

The Renton Police Department launched an investigation in August to find out who made the cartoons. The city of Renton confirmed Monday afternoon that Monday was Sergeant Charles Marsalisis' last on the job after he and the city struck a settlement. Marsalisis, 53, agreed to retire early.

The Renton Reporter had posted about Marsalisis' retirement earlier in the day.

The 18-year veteran didn't create the cartoons, but investigators said he withheld information about who did.
