Oct. 07--A man who led authorities on a chase and kicked out a Macon police car window was tased and restrained after his arrest Thursday morning.

Sean Thomas Seigle, 48, was flailing around in the parking lot with his hands cuffed behind his back and his legs tied with a restraining belt.

Seigle was originally thought to have robbed the Shell station at 5011 Romeiser Drive near Eisenhower Parkway at about 9:20 a.m., said Bibb County Chief Deputy David Davis.

Witnesses saw him grab the female cashier's shirt while mumbling something and telling the woman she was "coming with him," according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

Tami Boutwell, who had ridden to the Shell station with Seigle, had already purchased her items and was waiting outside when she saw customers fleeing the store as Seigle struggled with the cashier, the release stated.

Boutwell confronted Seigle, who abandoned the idea of kidnapping the cashier and forced Boutwell into his truck against her will, the release stated. A Bibb County deputy recognized the red, Ford Ranger pickup from the lookout as it was getting onto northbound Interstate 475.

Macon police officers joined a chase that ran up to Thomaston Road and exited onto Mercer University Drive where the driver stopped at the Raceway convenience store.

Bibb deputies and Macon police officers worked together to arrest the man, who officers say started kicking his feet against the patrol car window that popped out of its frame.

A deputy tased Seigle, who calmed down long enough for officers to bind his feet with a restraining belt.

He was quiet for a few minutes before repeatedly shouting profanity and pleas for help as he sat on the pavement.

Davis said the man appeared to be intoxicated with behavior consistent with methamphetamine use.

"Whenever they have some stimulus, like the situation we have here where we're trying to arrest them, it just gets them all excited and it causes them to get quite agitated and boisterous," Davis said.

As a team of officers led him to a transport van, Seigle yelled: "I'm being burned alive by the Macon police!"

Seigle had a bloody scrape on the side of his head and blood on his fingers as he was led away.

A can of Icehouse beer was on the seat of the pickup and what appeared to be another beer was in the console as investigators processed the truck for evidence. Seigle is charged with attempted kidnapping, interfering with government property, fleeing and eluding, felony obstruction and kidnapping, according to police.
