PUNXSUTAWNEY --

A Punxsutawney police officer who was fired when he left a drunk man inside his cruiser for several hours is now suing the borough for improper termination.

Detective Brian Andrekovich was in federal court Wednesday. His attorney said Andrekovich's dismissal didn't meet state guidelines and false evidence was presented against his client.

Andrekovich was never charged with a crime in relation to the 2009 death of Stephen Obbish.

Andrekovich's attorney is asking for his job back plus $75,000 in damages.
