JUPITER, Fla. --

Police are investigating after someone broke into a Jupiter jewelry store and stole more than $7 million worth of jewelry.

Jupiter police said Provident Jewelry on Indiantown Road was burglarized sometime between the close of business Saturday and when employees arrived to work shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

Police said the burglar or burglars got inside through the roof of an adjacent store.

Owner Rob Samuels said a jackhammer and torch were used to access the vault.

Samuels said he had what he "assumed was a state-of-the-art alarm system and vault."

"Somebody was good," Samuels said of the break-in.

Samuels said the jewelry is insured, but the burglary is bad timing with Valentine's Day -- the second busiest time of the year for him -- just weeks away.

"I guess it's interesting if you're watching it in a movie," Samuels said.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the burglary.
