OKLAHOMA CITY --

An off-duty officer was brutally beaten while working security at a club on the northeast side of Oklahoma City, police said.

Mark Burden tried to stop a man in a club near NE 36th Street and Kelley Avenue from going upstairs toward the stage when 24-year-old Lamar McPerson hit Burden between the eyes with a bottle, according to a police report.

Burden fell and was found bleeding and unresponsive when police arrived.

McPerson was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

McPerson's right hand and knuckles were scratched and his left hand was swollen, police said.

Burden was treated at a hospital for his injuries.
