FARMINGTON, N.H. --
A man accused of dragging a Farmington police officer and forcing another to jump out of the way of his vehicle has been arrested.
Farmington police arrested Anthony Bleyl, 24, Friday afternoon. Police said they had been searching for him since early Friday morning.
Police said they found Bleyl sitting in a Jeep behind his apartment building after they were asked by Rochester police to check on him following an incident in that town.
But when Farmington officers approached Bleyl's Jeep, they said, he locked the doors and suddenly drove away, dragging a police sergeant who was holding onto a door handle.
"Given the nature of the incident, he did attempt to use his vehicle as a weapon," said Lt. Kevin Willey.
Police said that as Bleyl drove off, he crashed into the corner of his apartment building. They said he then continued driving directly toward another police sergeant, who tried to stop him.
"(The officer) stood in the driveway, waved his arms and yelled, 'Stop! Farmington police!'" Willey said. "The driver continued to accelerate."
Police said the officer dove out of the way, landing on a wooden staircase.
"His injuries were minor," Willey said. "He didn't require medical treatment. He was able to remain on duty."
Police said they found Bleyl in Rochester after receiving an anonymous tip.
Investigators are still looking for Bleyl's 1993 blue Jeep Cherokee with New Hampshire plates 295 2272. They said it has front-end damage on the passenger side.
