March 30--The driver who slammed into an Orange County deputy's car as he responded to a burglary call Tuesday was cited for the accident.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers issued 26-year-old Amanda Cartright a ticket for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
FHP Sgt. Kim Montes this morning said 24-year-old Deputy Andrew Chouinard suffered a non-life-threatening injury in the crash. Rescue crews took Chouinard to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
His condition was not known today.
Montes said Chouinard was driving eastbound on Oak Ridge Road through the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail with his lights and siren activated.
Cartright was driving her 2006 Mitsubishi north on Orange Blossom Trail and did not yield to the deputy. The impact of the crash pushed the Chouinard's patrol car into a 2000 Kia driven by 32-year-old Eline Jerome.
Troopers said the three vehicles were towed from the scene.
