CURRY COUNTY, Ore. --
A Curry County sheriff’s deputy responding to reports of an injured man was almost hurt himself, after his car burst into flames.
It happened near Humbug Canyon on Sunday. Deputy Jared Gray was heading toward Rocky Point on Highway 101, where a man had fallen off some rocks.
His car caught on fire on the way there. He got out and took what equipment he could before it became fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews responded to the scene but could not save the car. No one was hurt in the fire.
Investigators say the car is made by Dodge, and the company is sending out a representative to look into what went wrong.
The man who fell off the rocks was taken to the hospital.
