DETROIT --
Detroit police said Friday they've broken up a major carjacking operation that focused on luxury cars at casinos, restaurants and other locations across the city.
At a news conference, Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said his officers worked with the FBI, the Michigan State Police and other agencies to make a series of arrests and confiscate several stolen cars.
Godbee said the investigation is still ongoing and he could not reveal many more details, except the basics of the case.
“Eight persons were arrested, 14 warrants were issued, 21 vehicles were recovered for a total value of over a half a million dollars. Approximately $550 million,” he said.
