An April Fools' joke between a daughter and a mother ends with officers at their Tomball workplace.

TOMBALL, Texas --

An April Fool's joke got law enforcement officers involved on Friday.

Tomball police said a mother playing a prank on her daughter ended up causing a major police situation.

Both women work at Molly's Pub, at 28107 Tomball Parkway.

A dozen officers showed up at the pub Friday afternoon after the mom texted her daughter that the place was being robbed.

It was a prank, but the daughter called police because she thought it was real.

Police almost arrested a man who was inside the pub.

"As it turns out, her daughter is not good about returning texts. She literally did this as a joke or as a way to get her daughter to respond. In the end, it was a horrible, horrible decision that she made to do that," said Robert Hauck, with the Tomball Police Department.

Police said it was a dumb mistake. No charges will be filed.
