LANSING, Mich. --
Police say two Michigan parents attacked a 73-year-old crossing guard who tried to intervene after they encouraged their 7-year-old to punch a fellow first-grader.
Authorities were seeking charges Friday against the 29-year-old woman and 26-year-old man.
Lansing police Lt. Noel Garcia says the boys had been involved in a Wednesday fight at Lyons Elementary School. He says the 7-year-old's parents drove to the school Thursday, let their son out of the vehicle and yelled at him to beat the other child. The couple's son punched the other boy and knocked him down.
Garcia says the crossing guard tried to intervene. The father then punched the man in the face, and the mother punched him in the back of the head. The crossing guard suffered a chipped front tooth.
