CINCINNATI --

A Hamilton County man is facing several charges after officers said he carjacked a vehicle and rammed a police cruiser.

Police said Kristopher Ward, 23, was seen throwing a gun under a car in the 1000 block of Chapel Street just before 5 p.m. Thursday.

When officers ordered Ward to stop, police said, Ward jumped into a parked car with a woman inside and drove off.

As an officer attempted to stop Ward, police said Ward tried to run the officer down, then rammed an oncoming police cruiser head-on.

Police said Ward fled on foot after the crash, throwing away a handgun as he ran. Court records do not indicate if the woman was injured in the robbery or crash.

When an officer caught up to Ward on Myrtle Avenue, the officer said Ward refused to surrender and tried to grab the officer's gun. Officers said they found another gun in Ward's coat.

Police said one officer suffered a wrist injury.

Ward is charged with theft, kidnapping, two counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of having weapons under disability.

Bond for Ward was set at $360,000 on Friday morning.
