WINTERSVILLE, Ohio --

A Wintersville man is likely facing multiple charges after police said he fled from officers in a high-speed chase and was involved in several crashes.

Nicolas Stout, 21, is accused of drunken driving and fleeing from officers early Thursday.

Police said they initially saw Stout’s vehicle on State Route 152. They said the man appeared to be driving erratically and that the vehicle had front-end damage.

Wintersville police along with deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop the car in Richmond, but said the driver kept going.

Police said Stout then rammed a deputy’s cruiser and proceeded to head south on State Route 43.

The chase ended when Stout was involved in a three-car crash near the Walmart distribution center near Wintersville.

“I’m happy that the suspect is going to jail,” said Patrolman Art Fowler, Jr. from the Wintersville Police Department. “The bad thing was there were a few accidents because somebody impaired got behind the wheel and decided they wanted to run from the cops.”

Stout was charged with suspicion of OVI and is likely facing additional charges.

A passenger who was in the car with Stout was detained for a short time and released.
