CARSON, Iowa --

A five-hour standoff ended with a Carson, Iowa, man in jail Tuesday.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker told KETV NewsWatch 7 the man grabbed his wife's arm then barricaded himself in their apartment around 4 a.m. threatening to harm himself.

When deputies arrived, the man said he had a gun and told them not to come in. Deputies tried to negotiate, but they said it didn't work.

Around 9 a.m., deputies said they used the bomb squad's robot to break a window, which convinced the man to come out.

He didn't have a weapon, but authorities said he was booked for domestic abuse.

His name was not immediately available.
