HEARD COUNTY, Ga. --
A pickup truck driver was arrested and charged with following too close after he crashed head-on into a deputy’s patrol car killing the deputy, said a representative for the Georgia State Patrol.
Investigators said Charles Grady Green, 41, of Woodland, Ala., tried to go around another car that had stopped or slowed when his Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed head-on into Heard County Deputy Willie Amos Cammon’s patrol car.
Cammon, 59, of Franklin, died as a result of his injuries. He was traveling on Georgia Highway 100 near Yates Road when the collision happened.
Green was not injured.
In addition to following too closely, Green was charged with failure to a maintain lane and vehicular homicide in the second degree.
