N.Y. Officer Revives Collapsed Firefighter

A Central Islip firefighter who collapsed inside a fire station was revived by a Suffolk County police officer.

A Central Islip firefighter who collapsed inside a fire station was revived by a Suffolk County police officer Thursday afternoon, according to The Long Island Press.

Officer Alicia Bentz was leaving the firehouse on Wheeler Road at approximately 3:26 p.m. when she heard a loud crash.

She went back inside to find Firefighter Eugene Cilhar, 74, unconscious on the floor, according to the report.

Bentz began to administer CPR and used the fire department's defibrillator to restore the 45-year veteran's breathing and pulse.

Cilhar was transport to Southside Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
