Georgia Deputies Recapture Escaped Inmates

Law enforcement officials captured two men who escaped Monday evening from the Bibb County Courthouse while officials were in the process of loading inmates into a van to return to the county jail.

Law enforcement officials captured two men who escaped Monday evening from the Bibb County Courthouse while officials were in the process of loading inmates into a van to return to the county jail, Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena said.

Officials from the sheriff's office, Macon Police Department and the Southeast Fugitive Task Force were able to capture Tyrone Brown and Jeremy Taylor near the Spring Street bridge within an hour after they escaped custody while leaving the courthouse Monday about 7 p.m.

Modena said both men still had their handcuffs on when they were found within a few minutes of each other. Modena said the two men ran before they could be loaded into the van.

Taylor, who had been convicted of aggravated battery earlier Monday, will face an additional charge of escape after conviction, Modena said.

Brown was at the courthouse on armed robbery charges, but sheriff's officials weren't certain Monday night of the status of his case. Brown will face an additional charge of escape.

No one was injured during the incident.
