March 11--A suspect in a stolen vehicle rammed into an Orange County deputy's patrol car Thursday night, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Cpl. Susan Soto said the incident began with an investigation that started about 5 p.m. Thursday, when deputies were called to a reported strong-armed robbery at an apartment building on Henley Road.

Deputies arriving on scene reported finding the victim badly beaten, with severe injuries to his face. The victim told deputies that he was attacked and robbed of his keys while walking to his mailbox.

Soto said 30 minutes had passed between the attack and the 911 call reporting it. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to find the suspects. The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he remained Thursday evening.

However, about three hours after the attack, deputies received another call -- this one from the victim's 11-year-old son, Soto said. According to the Sheriff's Office, the boy reported seeing an unknown male suspect drive away in his father's vehicle.

Deputies caught up with the suspect at the Tymberskan Apartments and tried to get him to stop. However, Soto said the suspect refused to obey commands, and instead rammed a deputy's patrol car.

Soto said another deputy subdued the suspect and arrested him. The deputy in the car that was rammed was treated at the scene by Orange County firefighters for minor injuries to his hand.

The Sheriff's Office has not released the name of the suspect, pending a photo line-up. The suspect is expected to face charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, grand theft of a motor vehicle and felony fleeing and eluding.

Deputies are still investigating the strong-armed robbery, and Soto said additional charges may come.
