Maryland Police Apprehend NYC Murder Suspect

Anne Arundel County police say a man wanted in connection with a murder in New York City was captured in Millersville Friday.

MILLERSVILLE, Md. --

A New York City homicide suspect was captured Friday in Millersville, according to Anne Arundel County police officials.

New York City Task Force authorities alerted Anne Arundel County police that 42-year-old Michael Kenny, wanted in connection with a murder on Thursday, was heading to a family residence in Millersville. Authorities said Kenny stabbed his wife several times in a New York hair salon.

Task force authorities said Kenny was traveling in a white work van that was stolen in New York City.

As police headed to the Millersville residence to protect family members, additional units fanned out in search of the van. Officials said when the van was spotted and lights and sirens were activated, Kenny took off, leading officers on a low-speed chase.

Once cornered in the 700 block of Mattawa Court, Kenny turned the car on police, officials said. Units deployed Stop Stick tire deflation devises to eventually stop the car.

Less than lethal weapons, however, had to be deployed before the Quick Response Team and K-9 units could take Kenny into custody, according to officials.

It has not been determined what charges Kenny will face in Anne Arundel County. He was being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a detainer for the outstanding homicide warrant.
