Police say they confiscated substantial amounts of cocaine and marijuana in the arrest of a Jersey City man on narcotics and distribution charges.

Vincent Bordeaux, 41, was arrested Wednesday in Jersey City by local police and members of the narcotics bureau of the Passaic County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Richard Berdnik said in a release that an investigation showed Bordeaux had received a Federal Express parcel sent from Arizona; further inspection revealed two rectangular kilograms of suspected cocaine. A second FedEx package addressed to Bordeaux from Arizona arrived in Irvington on Thursday containing about 7 pounds of marijuana, the sheriff said.

Police estimated the street value of the cocaine at $140,000 and the marijuana's value at $12,000.

The sheriff's narcotics bureau and the Jersey City police narcotics squad began investigating Bordeaux upon receiving reliable tips, officials said.

Bordeaux is charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute 2 kilograms of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia used in the manufacturing and/or distribution of narcotics. He was transferred to the Hudson County Jail pending further court proceedings, the sheriff said. Bail information is unknown at this time.
