Fired Indiana Officer Plans to Sue Department
CARMEL, Ind. --
A Carmel police officer fired over accusations of inappropriate conduct on the job plans to sue the department.
Carmel Police Chief Tim Green said Greg Park showed a pattern of questionable behavior, including pulling over too many female drivers and following one young woman to her house to give her a warning for speeding.
In his lawsuit, Park alleges his actions did not warrant the loss of his job, and claims he was targeted for termination after bringing up concerns about racial profiling within the department.
"These charges, I believe, are a direct retaliation," Park said.
"We're going to ask for the disciplinary records of the Carmel Police Department to determine if, in fact, there are officers who have more serious histories than Officer Park," said his attorney, Robert Turner. "If there are and they haven't been terminated, we are going to file a lawsuit for violation of civil rights."
Tuner said he will also ask for records about racial profiling complaints made to the department.
