CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. --

Police have charged a 24-year-old Bethel Park man with impersonating a police officer.

Police said Adam Phillips became upset with another driver, so he used an application on his iPhone to show red and blue flashing lights and held it up, making it look like he was driving a police cruiser.

"He put that up in the dashboard of the vehicle and it made it look like a police car and flashed his headlights on and off," said Castle Shannon Police Chief Ken Truver. "Drivers in the preceding vehicle seeing the red and blue on the dashboard assumed it was police officer and pulled off in the parking lot of the 4000 block of Library Road."

Police said Phillips followed the other driver from Pittsburgh to Bethel Park before the incident came to an end in Castle Shannon.

Phillips is also charged with possession of a criminal instrument, tampering with evidence and harassment.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 26.
