JACKSON, Miss. --
An SUV full of children crashed Saturday, killing an 8-month-old baby.
Nine other children, ranging in age from 1 to 13, were hurt and sent to the hospital.
Jackson police said a tire blow-out appears to be what caused the Chevy Suburban to crash on Interstate 220 near Highway 80. Eleven people in all were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
The vehicle flipped, ejecting and killing the 8-month-old girl. The other children were taken to UMC along with the driver, 30-year-old Tanji Wells.
There is a 2-year-old girl listed with life threatening injuries. No word on the others' conditions.
Police said there were three child restraint seats in the car but haven't determined if any children were in those seats or wearing seat belts.
