CHARLOTTE, N.C. --
A series of break-ins has Charlotte-Mecklenburg police taking a different approach this weekend.
Reports show there were 12 break-ins on or near Eastway Drive in the last month. Four of them were at churches.
In many of the cases, police said, someone is breaking through a window or door overnight.
Police said they will be focusing on churches and businesses this weekend.
“They're going to be going around checking doors on these businesses," Sgt. Christian Wagner said. "Especially on the night shift."
Police said a laptop and guitar have been stolen, but in most cases, food was the target. Wagner said he thinks the suspect may be homeless.
