March 25--A Maryland State Police trooper was injured during a pursuit that ended in the arrest of two men Thursday, police reported.
The men were taken into custody, police said. Investigators are consulting with the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office regarding charges.
Trooper First Class Jeremy Hite's injuries were minor, police said. He was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore as a precaution.
Hite was injured in a crash on northbound U.S. 15 near U.S. 40, police said.
The pursuit started shortly before 5 p.m. when Hite saw a green Lincoln on westbound I-70 west of Linganore Road, police said. The Lincoln fit the description of a car that had eluded a Montgomery County police officer.
As soon as the trooper initiated a traffic stop, the car drove off, police said. During the pursuit, the Lincoln traveled at high speeds.
A helicopter relayed information to ground units and helped them follow the car, police said.
The car eventually stopped in the 1300 block of West Seventh Street near Frederick Shopping Center, police said.
The men inside the car got out and ran, police said.
Troopers and Frederick County sheriff's deputies stopped them nearby on Taney Avenue around 5:35 p.m.
