Patrolling the Heart: Tactical Communications for Law Enforcement Couples This course is especially designed to positively impact not only the officer but those they are closest too. With that in mind, this training is intended to be attended by both the officer and their partner. Careers behind a badge take a drastic toll on those in uniform and others they share a home with. The strain a career in law enforcement places on a relationship is staggering. Unfortunately, in many situations, by the time the help is sought, the damage is irreversible. This course is intended to prevent just that tragedy. The goal of this course is twofold. 1st to give the spouse of the officer a better understanding of the world that their loved one lives in each and every day and the effect it may have on their partner, and how these effects manifest themselves. The course will also help the spouse to develop the necess! ary communications and coping skills needed to keep the relationship intact. The 2nd intent is to give the officers a better perspective of how their careers impact their loved ones and to also offer them the communication skills they need to develop in order to insure their relationship thrives. Traditionally courses such as this have wrongly focused on the officer. It’s time to focus on the job and the relationship. This time there is no fault finding or blame, only understanding and compassion.
