A Long Island plumber has sued the city claiming cops used excessive force during a traffic stop by shocking him with a Taser gun.
Scott Hoberman, 49, was pulled over in his van in The Bronx in January, said his lawyer, Michael Eidman.
Dozens of other cops were called to the scene after a struggle broke out. Eidman said the cop had grabbed Hoberman's neck. Eidman said that when Hoberman stepped out, a lieutenant shot him twice with the Taser.
"I would call this a blatant use of excessive force," Eidman said.
Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne said Hoberman was "irate" and "disorderly" and the lieutenant was justified.
Hoberman has pleaded not guilty to attempted assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
