Two police officers pulled a woman from a burning home at 3605 Grant Street in Weirton Thursday morning.
According to police, the two officers first tried to kick in the door to get the victim out of her home, but when that didn’t work, the two officers finally got the victim out through a window in the back of the home.
Officials said just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Weirton Officer Jason Turner noticed smoke in the area.
Turner was then assisted by Officer Ryan Scott who helped the 72-year old victim out of her home.
Emergency officials said the two officers saved the woman’s life.
Authorities said the home did suffer some damage and crews reported heavy smoke once they arrived on the scene.
Officials have not yet released the victim’s name. The victim suffered smoke inhalation and has been flown to a Pittsburgh area hospital for treatment.
