ATF Offers $5,000 Reward in Subway Arson

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Philadelphia Field Division announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the fire at a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) subway station platform, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The fire occurred in the underground subway platform at the Girard Street Station of the Broad Street line, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Feb. 1. There have been no reported injuries at this time. The fire that began near the station platform of the transit system caused an estimated $25,000 in damages. The investigation is being conducted by fire investigators from ATF, the Philadelphia Fire Marshal's Office, and SEPTA Police Department.

Investigators have conducted an examination of the fire scene and have ruled that it was intentionally set.

"We are asking the public to provide any information that would lead investigators to those responsible for this act."
