North York County Regional Police Det. Mark Baker, Det. Sgt. Cody Becker and Sgt. Isaiah Emenheiser were killed and two others were wounded Wednesday when a 24-year-old suspect ambushed officers serving a stalking-related warrant in North Codorus Township.

The York County ambush, which lasted two minutes and left the suspect dead, is among the nation’s deadliest in recent years, following high-fatality officer attacks in Charlotte (2024, four killed), Allen, Kentucky (2022, three killed), Dallas (2016, five killed) and Baton Rouge, Louisiana (2016, four killed).

Other major ambushes include Lakewood, Washington (2009, four killed), Pittsburgh (2009, three killed), Oakland, California (2009, four killed), Odessa, Texas (2007, three killed), San Juan, Puerto Rico (2015, three killed) and the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed 72 officers.
