National Police Week 2025: Memorial Service Remembers Fallen Officers
- This year, 345 names of fallen officers were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. A service remembers their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of the over 24,000 other officers on the memorial.
One of the highlights of National Police Week in Washington, D.C., is the Police Unity Tour Ride-In.
The annual arrival of the bike riders, which happened Monday, marks the unofficial start of the week. The tour has a dual purpose: It pays tribute to fallen officers, and it raises money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).
"We are incredibly grateful to the Police Unity Tour for their continued partnership with us," the NLEOMF stated in a social media post. "Over the past 29 years they’ve donated $40 million to support our mission to honor the fallen, tell the story of American law enforcement and make it safer for those who serve."
This year, the Police Unity Tour raised $2.2 million in donations for the fund.

The Police Unity Tour began in 1997 when Patrick Montoure, a Florham Park, New Jersey, police officer, organized a four-day bike ride to D.C., according to the organization's website. The ride was set up to raise awareness for officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The first ride had only 18 bikers from New Jersey. Today, the organization has nearly 2,100 members in eight national chapters who make the annual ride.
