Toledo Police Officer Brandon Stalker, who would've turned 25 on Tuesday, was shot and killed while working perimeter security during a standoff incident earlier this year.
Family and friends celebrated the birthday Tuesday of an Ohio police officer who was shot and killed earlier this year.
Toledo Police Officer Brandon Stalker would've turned 25 on Oct. 12, WTOL-TV reports. He was fatally shot in January while working perimeter security during a standoff.
On Tuesday, Stalker's mother, Cosette, and a group of friends and relatives gathered in Toledo Memorial Park to honor the fallen officer.
"He's a true hero," Cosette Stalker said. "You know, he gave his life for this city. So I'll always keep him alive. And any other officer, I'll always keep them alive. Because they did. They walk into the line of fire and everybody else is running out, and they protect us."
Cosette Stalker is trying to set up a vigil for the year anniversary of her son's death, according to WTOL.
