A Georgia police officer has died almost a year after he was severely injured when he was struck by a car while working a traffic detail.

The Carrollton Police Department announced the death of Dustin Krish in a Wednesday social media post.

"Chief (Joel) Richards put it best. … Dustin was the best of us. He was unwavering in his duty, courageous, and faithful until the end," the department stated in the post.

Krish was directing traffic June 11, 2025, when a vehicle struck him, according to WANF-TV. He was airlifted to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Following the crash, Krish underwent "two very intensive surgeries," according to a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for his medical treatment. He then began months of speech and physical therapy, WANF reports.

A June 2 social media from Krish's church stated he had developed pneumonia and was in critical condition.

Krish began serving with the department in 2022, and his brother, Chad, is a sergeant on the force. He had only been seven months at the time of the crash.

While we are heartbroken on earth, what a celebration Dustin is having in Heaven," the department stated.
