N.C. Police Detective Remembered for Service, Honor Guard Role
What to know
- High Point Police Detective David Rosser, 42, died earlier this week following a medical emergency, according to the department.
- Rosser, who joined the department in 2008 after beginning his law enforcement career in Durham, most recently served in the violent crimes unit and held multiple roles, including firearms instructor, crisis negotiator, Civil Emergency Unit member and Honor Guard bagpiper.
- For more than a decade, Rosser played bagpipes at law enforcement memorials and funerals across North Carolina, saying the service was meaningful in helping families through the grieving process.
In a 2024 interview, when asked about his time with the High Point Police Department Honor Guard he said, "knowing that doing this service helps them with the funeral process and with the grieving process... It's meaningful to me to be able to provide that."
At this time information about services are not available, the post said.
