Police department and law enforcement agencies across the country are preparing to mark the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with ceremonies, moments of silence, and memorial events.

New York City
New York City will mark the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a ceremony at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum plaza beginning at 8:30 a.m., according to the memorial. Victims’ families will read the names of those killed, with six moments of silence observed throughout the morning.
The Tribute in Light will illuminate the Manhattan skyline from dusk on Sept. 11 through dawn on Sept. 12. The ceremony and security measures are expected to draw large crowds and significant law enforcement presence.
