LATHAM, New York -- The Colonie Police Team 301 recently participated in the 2018 Ragnar Relay in Cape Cod.

The Ragnar Relay is a 12 person relay which covers nearly 200 miles along Eastern Massachusetts from Hull to Provincetown.  Each runner completes three legs of the course resulting in a total mileage of between 12 and 21 miles per runner.  It is the ultimate Team sport because each runner is literally running on behalf of his/her eleven teammates.

The Colonie Police Team 301 consisted of 12 active members of the Colonie Police Department. The name “Team 301” is a name derived in memory of Investigator Ed Frank who passed away from cancer in 2005.

Since his passing, members of the Colonie Police Department have participated in sporting events such as the Boston Marathon, half marathons, Triathlons, mud runs, distance running relays, Softball leagues and tournaments, all in his memory and under his now-retired radio identifier, 301.

Many of these athletic endeavors have been to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in their fight against cancer.

Team 301 finished in 24 hours 4 minutes and 5 seconds, 1st in the Mixed Military / Public Safety Division and 20th overall out of 465 teams.
